About Haapet's

Haapet's is situated in Moss, on the east side of the fjord, 50 km south of Oslo the capitol of Norway.

Haapet is Norwegian for "the hope".

We are a small family which has 2 two legged members and at the moment 5 four legged members. Aditionally we have some hostcats. It is mportant to us not to have too many cats living with us. Our cats are familymember, so it is important to us to have enough time for all of them. Another argument for keeping the number of cats down is to minimize the danger of illness in the group.

The people behind Haapet's cattery is Gunborg and Bjørn. We live in a single house on the outskirts of the small town Moss.

Our cats share the house with us and can freely use nearly all parts of the house. So they have plenty of space for play and fun. They also have a 38m2 catyard, which they can access at all times through a catdoor. Aditionally we have a smaller catrun with an insulated room connected to it. This can be used if we for a period have a need to keep one or more cats seperated from the rest. Due to the fact that we have a bigger road not far from our house, we do not allowe our cats to run freely outside the catyard. It is not a good idea to have breeding cats running freely anyway :-)

We want our kittens to be allowed to come outside on nice days in a safe environment. Needless to say, kittens from Haapet's will not be used to running freely outside. The new owners should always be the ones to make the decision whether the cats should be indoor cats or not. Norwegian Forestcats are actually able to be very happy as indoor cats, as long as they are allowed stimulation. Like most other cats.

We, the people behind Haapet's, have had cats basically all our lives and our love for these fantastic animals have lead to the start of the cattery. Over the years most of our cats have been domestic cats and not pure breeds, but our national cat; the Norwegian Forestcat have managed to steal our hearts completely.

This big, proud and intelligent nature cat, with its gentle nature and affection has totally won us over. We have found it to be a perfect companion. It thrives in human company as well as together with other cats and animals.

This cat has as mentioned stolen our hearts. Could it also steal your?
